The Men’s Ministry (Men of Valor) exists at Grace Bible Church to help men mature in their God-given roles as husbands, fathers, workers, disciple makers and leaders in the church.

As Grace Bible Church has grown over the past few years, there has been a noticeable shift in the culture of our church.  Five years ago we were small enough that we felt like a close-knit family.  That provided a natural context to know how people were doing in their personal and spiritual life and how to encourage them in those areas.  As we expand, it becomes increasingly difficult to maintain that kind of fellowship and encouragement.

Recognizing these changes and the growing number of new men in our church, we felt it was time to pursue a ministry specifically directed at addressing the issue of discipleship among our men.

Why "Men of Valor"?  Because as Christians, especially Christian men, we are in a daily spiritual battle with the enemy of our souls - who wants to render us spiritually ineffective so that we will have the least impact in our families, in the church, and in our school or workplace.  We are in battle and it takes valor [courage and tenacity] to fight the fight to which God has called us.  To be clear, this is not a battle for physical or athletic proficiency; it is a battle for moral and spiritual excellence.

We aspire “to help men mature in their God given roles” through monthly corporate breakfast fellowships coupled with interactive teachings aimed at specific issues facing men in our culture; and by connecting every man into a discipleship relationship, seeking to cultivate deep and meaningful friendships and avenues to acquire help and to provide biblical accountability.

This ministry is designed for all men over the age of 18.  We seek to encourage and train men in their responsibilities as leaders under Christ and as these kind of leaders they model Christ's love to His church as stated in Ephesians 5.

Ron Walsh oversees the administration, scheduling, and promotion.  The Fellowship Group leaders meet monthly with the men in their groups to discuss the topics on a more personal level.

Men of Valor meets the fourth Saturday of the month at the church building in the auditorium from 7:30-9:00 a.m., followed by informal fellowship until 9:30 a.m.

During the meeting, a 30 minute message is given on a specific topic for men - AFTER a 30 minute meal is served.  The topic is announced in advance.  The message is heavily application oriented and there is a 15-30 minute discussion time at the table (10 round tables with 7-8 guys at a table) by a discussion group leader.

For further discussion, the Fellowship Group leaders meet monthly with just the men in their group and talk about the subject after it has had time to ruminate. Leaders also seek to meet with the men individually during the month for personal accountability.

The next Men of Valor breakfast meeting in Saturday, October 24, 7:30 a.m. at the church building. If you would like to reserve a spot, please email here.

Men of Valor Blog is being launched to help men connect and share encouragements during the week.  Coming soon!

To wade into those waters it will take valor,
valor that only comes through the Word of God which makes the man of God… adequate, equipped for every good work.
